Stress and the Heart Uterus Connection

In Chinese Medicine we talk about the connection with the Heart and the Uterus.  This pathway is called the Bao Mai and encompasses the heart, kidneys, uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries.  In Western Medicine terms it can be viewed as being very similar to the Hypothalamic Pituitary-ovarian axis.

The heart is closely related to the uterus through this vessel; this explains the profound influence of mental-emotional problems affecting the heart and the uterus.  Women can sometimes feel very cut off from their reproductive area – and for many reasons. They may feel that their bodies have let them down, perhaps have had painful periods, previous surgery, feel cold below or have lost their libido due to the stress of trying for a baby.

It is important to keep an open heart through the fertility journey

If this channel isn’t functioning we can see symptoms such as Fight or Flight Response with racing heart, racing thoughts, difficulty switching off, feeling of impending doom, insomnia.  The blood vessels contract and the blood moves away from the body to the limbs with less to the pelvic organs.
